Batgirl star Leslie Grace welcomed Batman actor Michael Keaton to the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie.

Responding to The Hollywood Reporter's announcement for Keaton's involvement in Batgirl, Grace wrote, "The bat's out the bag." Keaton's involvement was revealed recently via a cast list that mentioned his name as one of Batgirl's stars, which has led to speculation that he may reprise his role as the Dark Knight.

Aside from Batgirl, Keaton will also return to the role of Batman in The Flash, starring alongside leading man Ezra Miller and DCEU Batman Ben Affleck. However, Affleck recently stated that he did not meet Keaton during production. Prior to news of Keaton's role in Batgirl, the movie's directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah confirmed Batman would be in it, though they did not say which version. "I don't think we're allowed to go into that much detail," Adil remarked.

While the plot of Batgirl is not yet known, the film will also see J.K. Simmons reprise his role as Commissioner Gordon from Justice League. It has also been reported that Firefly and a currently unnamed character will appear in the film, played by Brendan Fraser and Jacob Scipio, respectively. Additionally, it has been rumored that Batgirl will set up the Black Canary film.

As for Grace herself, the actor has previously discussed what it was like being cast as Batgirl, expressing her enthusiasm for joining the DCEU's pantheon. "I open [an email from Warner Bros.] and it says, 'I'm Batgirl'… and my brain broke," she stated. "It was an incredible moment. When I say incredible, I mean the textbook definition of, I could not believe it. My brain actually broke when I got the news."

In regards to what the Dominoed Daredoll will look like in the movie, Grace had earlier revealed that she has not yet seen her costume for it. "I'm dying! They haven't told me anything, I honestly cannot leak anything, even if I knew," Grace said. "But I have no idea! I think probably until I head off, I won't know much, but I'm dying to know what that outfit looks like. I know that I'm going to be [doing], like, 35 different fittings for this costume. [Laughs] It's a big deal, so we want to get it right. I'm excited to see what that process is going to be like. My mom's dying to know."

Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Batgirl is currently set to hit both theaters and HBO Max in 2022.
