As a longtime genre fan, actor John Barrowman of "Arrow" and "Doctor Who" fame has mainly shared his talents on screen. But in an interview with CBR, he revealed his desire to helm an "Arrow" offshoot comic about his character, Malcolm Merlyn.

When asked whether he'd like to be more involved with the current "Arrow" comic, Barrowman mentioned that he and his sister have been trying to meet up with Geoff Johns, DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer. "I would love to do a Merlyn comic written by myself, who plays Merlyn," he elaborated. "I think that would be totally awesome because I know this man inside-out."

"There's another idea I have, too," he added, hinting at a separate comics pitch.

This wouldn't be Barrowman's first time in the "Arrow" creative chair, as he's had input into a number of aspects about his character's development on the series. "We do get to discuss things, and I know Andrew [Kreisberg] and Mark [Guggenheim] both have been fans of mine since 'Dr. Who' and 'Torchwood, so they listen to me," Barrowman told CBR. "I love this genre. I know it. My sister and I have written a 'Torchwood' novel. We have done three children's fantasy novels. We know about this stuff, so they love to hear about my opinion. I get to say things that I'd like to do, and sometimes they're put in."

This isn't the first time Barrowman has discussed his aspirations to raise his character's profile. In a 2014 interview with CBR, the actor expressed his desire to see himself immortalized in plastic as Merlyn. He has since seen that wish come true, as his character's first action figure is slated to arrive in stores in May from DC Collectibles.

"Arrow" returns to the CW tonight, January 21st at 8 PM.
