Ever since Disney acquired Fox, eager fans have been speculating and fantasizing about how Marvel Studios will reintroduce the X-Men and which actors would best suit them. Among the most prominent names has been Taron Egerton, known for his work in the Kingsmen film series as well as Rocketman.
Much of the Internet has seemingly agreed that the young actor would make for a great Wolverine, and at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association event, Egerton was asked by Variety about his thoughts on playing the mutant hero in the MCU. The actor simply stated, "I think I love Marvel and I love the movies and I'd love the excuse to get in shape and I'd love to be a part of it. I mean, whether [Wolverine's] realistic or not - I don't know."
Whoever Marvel Studios does eventually cast to play Wolverine will have the monumental task of following Hugh Jackman's beloved performance as the adamantium-clawed mutant. Jackman played Logan for more than a decade, from his first appearance in 2000's X-Men to his final performance as Wolverine in 2017's Logan.
As it stands, the X-Men franchise only recently came to a close with Dark Phoenix, and Marvel has no intention of rushing when it comes to bringing the mutant team back to the big screen. While Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige did tease the existence of mutants in the MCU at Comic-Con International, he's made it very clear that Xavier's team of mutants will not make their MCU debut for a while.
