HBO's Watchmen series has gained a significant fan base since its premiere earlier this year -- one that includes none other than former United States President Barack Obama.In a post to Twitter, the President Obama rounded off the year by sharing a list of his favorite films and television series from 2019. His list of films includes The Farewell, Booksmart and Parasite, among others. As far as television series go, the 44th president cites Fleabag Season 2, Unbelievable and, of course, the DC Comics-based drama Watchmen. Watchmen's premiere episode -- "It's Summer and We're Running Out of Ice" -- premiered on HBO Oct. 20. The Season 1 finale -- "See How They Fly" -- arrived on Dec. 15 . The nine-episode season has been met with great reviews, including a 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 85 out of 100 on Metacritic.

There is currently no official word on if Watchmen will return for Season 2, as Season 1 was intended as a complete story. That said, members of the cast and crew have teased the idea of a return. The Watchmen series is based on the seminal DC graphic novel by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons.
