The Dragon Ball Z Saga Is Being Retold - in Video Game Form

Video game publisher and developer Bandai Namco today announced the upcoming Dragon Ball Game - Project Z (a working title) for release in the Americas. The announcement also came with footage from the game and a 2019 release date.

The action role-playing game is being developed by Japanese video game developer CyberConnect2 and will take players on a tour of the popular anime series Dragon Ball Z through the eyes of the Saiyan Kakarot, better known to fans as Goku.

The accompanying video that came with the announcement also revealed that other popular Dragon Ball Z fighters will join Goku, including Piccolo, King Kai, Krillin, Vegeta, Nappa, Frieza and Goku's son, Gohan. Players can explore familiar environments in the Dragon Ball Z universe and face both old friends and enemies in the over the top battle style the series is known for.

The video references the series' signature Kamehameha energy blast, Goku's Super Saiyan evolution and the mythical seven Dragon Balls and their wish-granting dragon.

Dragon Ball Game - Project Z is scheduled to launch in the Americas in 2019 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as on PCs via Steam.
