The outlet notes the Bambi remake will be live-action in the vein of The Jungle Book and The Lion King, which used CG technology to bring its animal characters to life.

The original Bambi earned three Oscar nominations following its release, though it met with some trouble both critically and at the box office.. The now-beloved classic follows the mule deer Bambi and his friends through their various losses and escapades.

Bambi is the latest Disney classic to get a live-action remake. 2019 saw the release of both a remake of Aladdin and The Lion King. Both films made over $1 billion at the box office, though they weren't particularly well-received among critics. As of writing, Aladdin holds a 57 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, while The Lion King has a slightly lower score at 53 percent.

No release window or casting information for the live-action Bambi remake was given.
