Baltazar & Francavilla to Illustrate FCBD 2016 Posters, T-Shirts

Diamond Comic Distributors has announced that artists Art Baltazar and Francesco Francavilla will both provide artwork celebrating 2016's Free Comic Book Day. The illustrations will grace posters, t-shirts and other promotional items.

Scheduled for May 7, 2016, next year's FCBD will mark the 15th anniversary of the event.

Though neither artist's piece has been released, both Baltazar and Francavilla expressed their enthusiasm for the event in an official press release.

"I am honored to be a part of Free Comic Book Day and it's cool to have my characters cross over with other characters so they are all interacting with one another to celebrate this fun event," Baltazar said in a statement. "I think the kids and everyone celebrating Free Comic Book Day will really enjoy seeing characters they can recognize together on a FCBD T-shirt. I have been a part of Free Comic Book Day every year it has taken place, so for the 15 year anniversary I am excited to be a part of it again by creating something special for everyone to have to remember this amazing event."

"Every year the Free Comic Book Day committee commissions an artist to do some artwork for T-shirts and the posters to promote Free Comic Book Day," added Fracavilla. "That's a very important day for our industry, so I was extremely honored to be asked to do the artwork for the 2016 Free Comic Book Day."

Previous FCBD artwork has been provided by Amanda Conner, Jim Lee and more.
