According to Variety, sources indicate the trio of newcomers will be joining the series as a “a modern, highly specialized police unit that collides with the old school Bad Boys when a new threat emerges in Miami.”

The sequel is called Bad Boys for Life–a title that would give any Fast & Furious or Die Hard sequel a run for its money. That title is especially confusing since it's easy to read the “for” as “4,” and this is only the third Bad Boys movie. It's set to be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and will be the first Bad Boys film not directed by Michael Bay.

Bad Boys for Life is to take place seventeen years after Bad Boys II, roughly the amount of time between each production. The first sequel was released in 2003 and the new sequel is set to be released in 2020. Production on the third film in the series has been teased since 2008, but it looks like it is definitely happening this time around.

Vanessa Hudgens, of High School Musical fame, has already shown her gritty action chops  in films like Machete Kills and 2012's subversive Spring Breakers. Alexander Ludwig, meanwhile, is most famous for appearing as Cato in The Hunger Games, a villainous role that demanded much imposing power from the actor.

Charles Melton might be most familiar to audiences as the meathead football player Reggie on CW's Riverdale. Reggie appeared as a secondary character for the first two seasons before being upgrade to a series regular for season 3. Ross Butler originally played the character in the series' first season. He was replaced by Melton in the second in order to make time to play Zach Dempsey in the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. Melton has previously made appearances on the Ryan Murphy shows American Horror Story and Glee.

Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Bad Boys For Life stars Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig and Charles Melton. The film is set for release on Jan. 17, 2020.
