WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 13, "Infested," streaming now on Disney+.

Throughout Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Omega's compassion has been one of her defining characteristics. This compassion and desire for connection with other people led her to seek out Clone Force 99 in the first place and has guided her decisions in the wake of the Empire's rise. And while her kindness has made her many new friends, including Hera Syndulla and Cid, it's her compassion for her enemies that may truly pay off in the future.

Omega's attempts to understand people who may harm her begin in the series premiere. While Crosshair is struggling with his inhibitor chip, she tells him that what he will do is not his fault, a sentiment that she reinforces in "Reunion" when they meet again. Then, in "Replacements," Omega at first fears the Ordo Moon Dragon that steals one of the Havoc Marauder's capacitors, but when she realizes that the creature is just hungry, she figures out a solution to retrieve the capacitor without harming the moon dragon. Finally, in "Bounty Lost," Omega repairs Todo 360, making his injured limb as good as new despite the fact that she was actively trying to escape him and Cad Bane at the time. In regards to Crosshair and Todo, Omega has not received any payback for her efforts, but there is still a small bit of hope that either one of them might show compassion toward her in the future.

Roland Durand sits with Ruby in his lap in Star Wars The Bad Batch. He is seated in Cid's chair, and his feet are up on the desk.

However, Omega's most recent act of compassion may pay off more quickly for the team. In "Infested," Cid's parlor is overtaken by Roland Durand, the son of Isa Durand, who is trying to make a name for himself with the Pyke Syndicate. When Roland first appears in the episode, he appears somewhat like a supervillain holding a cat, or in this case, Ruby the lizard. Ruby actually is a callback to an earlier episode and another example of Omega's kindness towards a creature that most people fear, as also seen with the Ordo Moon Dragon. At the beginning of "Battle Scars," the team captured her from the Rhokai for a mysterious client, and Omega is the one who actually named her.

Ruby's inclusion in the episode also indicates that Roland was a client of Cid's before he turned on her, a fact that Cid later confirms. While Ruby contributes to Roland's master villain image, she also shows that Roland has a softer side. He clearly adores her, and he is distraught when Bolo and Ketch kidnap Ruby as a distraction. The distraction is effective, and the team is able to steal a shipment of spice that Roland obtained for the Pykes. However, the fact that Roland is so easily distracted by his concern for Ruby ultimately shows that he does have a heart despite his self-centered nature.

After Cid and Clone Force 99 sabotage Roland's deal with the Pykes, both Roland and Omega are held captive until the team recovers the stolen spice shipment. And while they are held hostage, Roland does attempt to look out for Omega. When Omega contemplates grabbing a blaster to try to escape, Roland cautions her against the action because the Pykes would kill her for her attempt. He undercuts this concern when he berates Omega for getting involved in his business. Later, when Omega points out that Roland caused this all to happen by betraying Cid, Roland states, "You take what you want. That's the Durand way." This line shows that Roland has been raised to be selfish and not think about how his desires affect other people, yet he still shies away from viewing his family as criminals.

Omega sits with Ruby in her lap, and Roland Durand sits nearby in Star Wars The Bad Batch. Both Omega and Roland are in handcuffs.

After the team recovers the spice, the Pykes almost kill Roland, but Omega pleads for his life, arguing that Roland doesn't need to die for his mistake. Cid backs Omega up, reminding the Pykes of Roland's connections and the dangers those connections pose to the Pyke syndicate. The Pykes do spare Roland, in part because they don't want war with the Durand family, but they still cut off one of his horns as punishment for failing them. When Hunter asks why Omega stood up for Roland, she replies, "I don't know. Ruby likes him. Maybe he's not all bad." When held hostage, Roland also used Ruby's good opinion of Omega to judge her as well, revealing that Ruby doesn't like many people. Both Omega's defense of Roland and Ruby's esteem for her may have raised Roland's opinion of her as well, indicating that he may become an ally that she can turn to in the future.

Omega's kindness towards Roland shows her consistent desire to see the best in people, even when they have actively harmed her or her friends. Since Roland has had a humbling experience, he may grow away from the selfishness he showed in this episode and repay Omega's support in the future. This hope also extends towards the other enemies that Omega has tried to help, such as Crosshair and Todo 360.
