WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 1, Episode 8, “Reunion,” streaming now on Disney+.

In the eighth episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Clone Force 99 is still on Bracca following their meeting with Captain Rex -- and, thanks to a tip from the Scrapper Guild, the Empire knows it. While the team is scavenging the memory banks and armor of a wrecked Jedi Cruiser in hopes of turning a profit, Crosshair shows up with three shuttles’ worth of troopers intent on wiping out the rogue clones..

Crosshair knows what his former teammates are capable of, and leads them into multiple deadly traps. However, the sharpshooter turns out not to be the most dangerous adversary in this episode, because the Bad Batch are confronted by a fan-favorite bounty hunter from The Clone Wars: the gun-slinging Cad Bane.

Cad Bane in The Bad Batch Episode 8

When Crosshair learns of Clone Force 99's whereabouts, he immediately informs Admiral Rampart, who's in a in a tense meeting on Kamino with Prime Minister Lama Su. Rampart immediately dispatches Crosshair and his elite troopers to exterminate them. Lama Su advocates for bringing back the rogue clones and making use of them, but Rampart is in no mood to listen; he simply wants Clone Force 99 removed from the board.

However, Lama Su and Nala Se have another priority -- which requires the safe return of Omega. And so, Lama Su makes a possibly rash move. First, he confirms that he hired Fennec Shand, but he isn't pleased that she has, so far, failed in her mission. He tells Nala Se that he is taking further steps to reacquire Omega.

After a narrow escape from Crosshair’s forces that involved nearly being incinerated in a Star Destroyer's engine, the Bad Batch gets separated, with Wrecker, Echo and Tech in one group and Hunter and Omega in another. They decide to rendezvous at their shuttle, but someone has beaten them there. Hunter and Omega arrive first to find a group of Crosshair’s troops already dead. Then the most notorious bounty hunter in the galaxy walks out of their shuttle, and Cad Bad means business.

Cad Bane faces off against Hunter in The Bad Batch Episode 8

Hunter is the only thing standing between Cad and his bounty, Omega. Because the defective clone means nothing to him, Bane is fully prepared to kill him, but Hunter isn't about to go down without a fight. The two stand there like two Old West gunslingers as classic duel music plays, waiting for the other to draw.

Determined to protect Omega, Hunter makes his move first, but Bane’s reputation is well-earned. The Duros bounty hunter draws, blasts Hunter in the chest plate, and flips his blaster back into its holster without flinching. He never even lost the toothpick from between his teeth. Then, Bane switches his blaster to stun in order to incapacitate Omega for the return to Kamino.

Hunter survives the encounter, with the final moments of "Reunion" setting up a risky return to Kamino to rescue Omega, and likely a rematch with Cad Bane.
