These parents expressed their love for anime and their newborn baby in the best way they knew how: by naming their son after as many shonen protagonists' names as possible. The official VIZ account quote-retweeted another Twitter account (sumisouls), who took two screenshots of a TikTok video by AlexCruzManga. It appears as though the happy parents decided to name their child "Ichigo D. Yeager Guts Kenpachi Cruz," referencing Bleach, One Piece, Attack on Titan, Berserk and Bleach again in that order. The parents bookmarked the name with two Bleach references since one of them appears to be an enormous Bleach fan. VIZ responded with well-wishes for the parents, "May Alex & Megan not suffer the fate of shonen protagonist parents. May they live long lives and be loved by their shonen protagonist son. Congratulations!"RELATED: These Three Shonen Anime Prove the Demographic Doesn't Need a Training Arc

VIZ Gave the Newborn Its Stamp of Approval

Many shonen protagonists are orphans or have extremely tense relationships with their parents. Ichigo's mother died protecting him. Luffy's father left him with his grandfather, and his mother appears to have died. The Titans killed Eren's mother, and his father is a real piece of work. Guts was born from the corpse of his lynched mother. Kenpachi is a title given to only the strongest Shinigami in Bleach, likely a reflection of the parents' hopes for their child.

Anime names aside, the parents had essentially named their child Strawberry, as one person pointed out since Ichigo means strawberry in Japanese. Most of the comments conveyed horror, while the rest found it hilarious and could not believe it was real. Other fans worried that the child's name would invite bullying and abuse, to which VIZ responded, "we shall protect him if they come for him online."

One of the parents posted a follow-up video in response to the skepticism expressed by viewers. He said, "No way I'd name my kid something cringey like that." The parent then revealed his child's "real" name was Aizen Dio Geto Griffith Madara Cruz -- which consists of the names of the antagonists. The alleged "real" name references Sōsuke Aizen from Bleach, Dio from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Suguru Geto from Jujutsu Kaisen, Griffith from Berserk and Madara Uchiha from Naruto Shippūden. However, some fans may argue he's more of an anti-hero.

Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, Jujutsu Kaisen and JoJo are available on VIZ Media. Berserk is available on Dark Horse Comics. Attack on Titan is available on Kodansha Comics.
