DC's Swamp Thing will get a special Halloween-themed one-shot from the creative team of writer Brian Azzarello and artist Greg Capullo.

Swamp Thing Halloween Horror Special will be published through DC's Walmart collaboration, with the 100-page comic also including a reprint of Swamp Thing's first appearance in Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson's House of Secrets #92 and other Halloween specials from creators such as Denny O’Neal, Neal Adams, Paul Dini, Dustin Nguyen, Dan Didio, J. Michael Stracyznski and many more.

“It’s monsters, right?” Capullo told The Washington Post’s Comic Riffs when asked about returning to the character he got to illustrate during Dark Nights: Metal. “Any time you draw monsters is fun. Especially because you can’t get them wrong.”

“It takes place on Halloween — [DC] was pretty adamant they wanted it to take place on Halloween,” Azzarello added. “It’s a story of a witch who comes across some kids in the woods and she tells them a story to scare them and Swamp Thing is involved in the story.”
