Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo will join forces for another tale about the Clown Prince of Crime in the newly announced graphic novel Batman: Damned. The series is part of DC Comics’ new Black Label imprint and will star the Dark Knight alongside John Constantine.

"On a deserted Gotham City bridge, a body is found. Whispers spread the news: Joker is dead. But is this a dream come true or a nightmare being born? Now Batman and DC’s outlaw magician John Constantine must hunt the truth through a Gotham City hellscape. The city’s supernatural recesses are laced with hints about a killer’s identity, but the Dark Knight’s descent into horror will test his sanity and the limits of rationality, as he must face a horror that doesn’t wear a mask."

Batman: Damned will see Azzarello and Bermejo returning to familiar territory. The duo created the graphic novel Joker in 2008, which dove into Gotham City’s gritty and disturbing underground. This new series will explore a Gotham City in which the Joker has been killed by something even more terrifying than the Clown Prince of Crime himself.
