UPDATE 11/2/2015 3:25 PM PT: A representative for Awesomeness Films has reached out to SPINOFF ONLINE to refute Tracking Board's report that the company is producing upcoming horror-thriller "The Rising," stating, "There are no plans for Awesomeness to produce 'The Rising' nor have there ever been."

Original story: YouTube channel-turned-feature film/television production company Awesomeness TV has landed a deal to produce a horror-thriller called "The Rising", written by "The West Wing" and "Game of Thrones" director Alex Graves. John Wells ("Shameless") is set to produce the film, likely under the newly-formed Awesomeness Films banner.

According to Tracking Board, "The Rising" follows "two sisters, one of whom pays a visit to her mentally ill and suicidal sibling. This sister has been driven mad by the suspicion that witches are coming to feed off of her life force. And as it turns out, her suspicions are correct."

Awesomeness TV started its original programming on YouTube in 2012, and was eventually bought up in 2013 by DreamWorks Animation for $33 million, thanks to its groundbreaking success as a channel -- garnering over one billion views in its first year.

While traditionally focused on comedy -- including a sketch series on Nickelodeon -- Awesomeness TV is making it foray into other genres, and continues to branch out into consumer products and talent management.

As of yet, no director or release date has been announced for "The Rising."
