The second act of Marvel's War of the Realms six-issue event series kicks off in April, and the cover for Issue 3 finds the Avengers undergoing a suicide mission to free Thor from the clutches of the evil Malekith.

The cover to War of the Realms #3 by Arthur Adams features Captain America, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Luke Cage and Iron Fist hiding below a Frost Giant holding a badly beaten God of Thunder.

War of the Realms #3 by writer Jason Aaron, artist Russell Dauterman and colorist Matthew Wilson will see Midgard taken over by the invading Malekith's forces, with North America rechristened New Jotunheim: Europe is now New Svartalfheim; Queen Sindr and her fire goblins send Asia up in flame; Ulik the Troll is the new ruler of Australia; Amora the Enchantress calls forth her army of the dead in South America; Heven's Angels invade Africa; and Dario Agger's Roxxon Oil lays claim to Antarctica.

The second act of War of the Realms also gains the new subtitle of "Reclaim the Realms." Aaron has been building to War of the Realms during the entire duration of his Thor run, which encompasses the last six years and 80-something issues. It originally started as a Thor-centric event, but the scope grew in size where it made sense to involve the entire Marvel Universe.

War of the Realms #3 by Jason Aaron, Russell Dauterman and Matthew Wilson, with a cover by Arthur Adams, goes on sale in April from Marvel Comics.
