Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness hints that Kang the Conqueror will have a stronger stranglehold on the heroes as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty promises to be one of the MCU's most tragic films yet.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Loveness, who also serves as the scribe for The Kang Dynasty, claimed the upcoming Avengers movie may feature a colossal death toll, further underlining Kang's terrifying capabilities. While talking about the ending of Quantumania, Loveness suggested MCU fans who are looking for more casualties will be more satisfied with how The Kang Dynasty plays out. "I think for these bloodthirsty fans, there's a little movie called Avengers: Kang Dynasty, I think he'll bring the heat," he said.

Kang was hyped up as an intimidating supervillain since the confirmation of his MCU live-action movie debut in Quantumania, and the character hasn't disappointed. Jonathan Majors, who plays the time-warping menace, has garnered widespread praise for his portrayal of Kang, with many Quantumania critics and viewers calling him the most redeemable aspect of the film. Kang takes Paul Rudd's Scott Lang/Ant-Man to the limit in Quantumania, with the hard-hitting action taking place entirely within the Quantum Realm.

From Quantumania to The Kang Dynasty

While Ant-Man, Hope van Dyne/Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) survived the events of Quantumania, at least one of the film's main characters will reportedly die in The Kang Dynasty, though Marvel has yet to confirm this. Additionally, it's unknown how or when the Quantumania heroes will appear next within the MCU timeline. Quantumania kicked off Phase Five of the MCU, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Marvels also due to premiere during the phase.

The Kang Dynasty is one of two Avengers movies set to flesh out the MCU's Phase Six, followed up by Secret Wars. Based on the long-running comic book storyline of the same name that ran through Avengers Vol. 3 #41-55 and Avengers Annual 2001, The Kang Dynasty was confirmed by Marvel president Kevin Feige during last summer's San Diego Comic-Con, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings helmer Destin Daniel Cretton later confirmed as its director and Loveness as the writer.

While Marvel has yet to confirm the film's cast, Majors has called for Iron Man to make his return in The Kang Dynasty despite being killed off in Endgame. Majors made his MCU debut in the Disney+ series, Loki, appearing as Kang's multiversal variant He Who Remains in the Season 1 finale. He is expected to play a major role in Season 2 of the superhero show.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty arrives May 2, 2025. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now playing in theaters.
