The founding Avengers have assembled to get inked.
To commemorate the release of Avengers: Infinity War, five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's original Avengers -- Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner -- got matching tattoos.
"It was Johansson’s idea, and she and Evans did it in New York," Downey told Entertainment Weekly. "Then, their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to LA, he did me, did Renner, and then we just bullied Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it."
Mark Ruffalo opted out of the ritual, with Lord instead receiving the sixth tattoo in a collaboration by the others. "By the way," Downey said, "he’s got another one on him that Scarlett did, which is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was just supposed to be a straight line, looked like a lightning bolt. It was a mess.”
Downey documented the occasion in a series of videos posted on his Instagram account.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston, and Josh Brolin. The film is out in theaters everywhere.
