When Disney XD's Avengers animated series returns this summer for a fourth season, it will adapt Marvel Comics' first mega-event with Avengers: Secret Wars. The season will also assemble a new team that includes Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Ant-Man, Wasp and the Vision.

Debuting July 17 in a two-part episode titled “Avengers No More," Avengers: Secret Wars picks up following the events of Avengers: Ultron Revolution with Tony Stark missing in action after being trapped in another dimension. The Leader and his new Cabal uses the opportunity to scatter the Avengers across space and time, causing Black Panther to form a new team.

A series of six animated shorts will also air on Disney XD beginning June 2 to reintroduce audiences to the powers of the New Avengers in flashback sequences.

In an interview in January with CBR, Marvel Animation Vice President Stephen Wacker commented on Avengers: Secret Wars and what fans can expect. "We will see Battleworld," he said. "Much like this season, we will see a collection of stories that at first might seem like standalone adventures that we come to realize are all related to each other. We kick off the season with a focus on our new characters, including Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Vision, Ant-Man and Wasp, and they become very important as the season goes on."

Avengers: Secret Wars debuts with a one-hour premiere Saturday, July 17, at 11:30 a.m. ET/PT on Disney XD.
