The following contains spoilers for Avengers #62, on sale now from Marvel.
Marvel's Avengers #62 sees Earth's Mightiest Heroes come face-to-face with their prehistoric counterparts, the Avengers of 1,000,000 B.C.
Avengers #62 comes from Jason Aaron, Ivan Fiorelli, color artist David Curiel and letterer VC's Cory Petit. In the issue, Agamotto, the Marvel Universe's first Sorcerer Supreme, sees a vision of "worlds ravaged" by Mephisto. "The great heroes of prehistory, from Earths just like this one...All struck down. All butchered. And here I stand alone. On Earth-616."
Agamotto proceeds to gather the Avengers of 1,000,000 B.C., a group which largely disbanded following the events of the Avengers 1,000,000 BC (2022) #1 one-shot by Aaron and Kev Walker, to help defend the planet from the oncoming threat. After gathering prehistoric versions of Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Moon Knight, Starbrand and Odin, himself, Agamotto proceeds to cast a spell which introduces them to the modern-day Avengers. "The Ghost Rider asked me a question," Agamotto tells his team of heroes. "Why do we bother to do what we do? When no matter how we fight, the war will not end. I could tell you...that those of us here...are but the heralds of an age of wonders. I could tell you those things, but then I figured...It would be easier if I showed you."
Marvel Unites All of the Avengers in One Place
The Avengers of 1,000,000 B.C. and modern-day avengers will team up together in Avengers Assemble: Alpha #1, an upcoming one-shot which kicks off a crossover saga between Aaron's Avengers and Avengers Forever series. Releasing on November 30, the synopsis reads, "UNITING THE AVENGERS, AVENGERS FOREVER AND AVENGERS OF 1,000,000 BC IN AN EPIC SAGA THAT FORMS THE CAPSTONE TO JASON AARON’S ERA ON AVENGERS! From throughout time and the far corners of the Multiverse, the Mightiest Heroes of All the Earths are assembling as never before for a battle beyond all imaging. A war that will take us from the prehistoric beginnings of an Earth under assault by the greatest villains who’ve ever lived to the watchtower that stands at the dark heart of the all and the always, where an army of unprecedented evil now rises.
