Earth's Mightiest Heroes will be expanding their footprint at Disney theme parks across the globe.
Marvel already has a small presence at some Disney parks, with the Iron Man Experience opening in 2017 at Hong Kong Disneyland. That was followed by the controversial, but wildly successful, redesign of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout at Disney California Adventure. There have also been limited appearances by other Marvel heroes.
But now Disney Parks has confirmed Hong Kong Disneyland is set to get another Marvel attraction with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!, a re-theming of the interactive Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, allowing guests to "shoot" at enemies to gain points. In addition, the company teases further expansions to both Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Paris involving Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and Captain Marvel.
The statement doesn't mention the previously announced Guardians of the Galaxy roller-coaster, set to replace Ellen's Energy Adventure in Walt Disney World Resort's Epcot. The extent to which Marvel will expand into the Orlando resort is unclear due to the restrictions of the Marvel license held by nearby Universal's Islands of Adventure.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! is set to open in March at Hong Kong Disneyland, with further expansions to come.
