The first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War sees the Winter Soldier sporting a new metal arm as Earth's Mightiest Heroes prepare to battle Thanos' invading army in Wakanda. Director Anthony Russo says Bucky Barnes' time in the African nation could have something to do with that upgrade.
“For everyone who’s seen Captain America: Civil War, they know Bucky was taken in by T’Challa in Wakanda," Russo told Express UK. “I think that, you know, we catch back up with him after he’s been there for a while. And if there’s an influence on his arm, it may perhaps have to do with that country that he’s been spending time in."
When fans last saw Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier, he was being put back under ice in the mid-credit scene of Captain America: Civil War. Bucky is also missing his mechanical arm after Iron Man blew it off during the film's climactic battle. If Wakanda is under attack, Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther would find it in his best interest to equip Bucky with a new arm using Vibranium, the rare indestructible metal used to forge Captain America's shield and only found in the country.
