The death toll in Avengers: Infinity War began right when the Marvel Studios logo started to fade from theater screens. Thanos and his Black Order slaughtered the Asgardian refugees from Thor: Ragnarok, including Heimdall (Idris Elba) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston). However, one popular character from Ragnarok who wasn't shown dead or alive in Infinity War was Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie.

Director Joe Russo gave a status update regarding Valkyrie's fate during a Q&A session at an Iowa high school, and the Asgardian warrior, along with some of her brothers and sisters, did survive the attack by Thanos. A person in attendance documented some of the answers provided by the director, which revealed some of the Asgardians got away in escape pods before the ship was boarded by Thanos.

Thompson recently joked about her lack of an Infinity War role by posting a Photoshopped image of Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes holding a goat in Wakanda. Although she wasn’t part of the superhero ensemble, at least the Thor: Ragnarok star can see the humor in her absence from Infinity War.

Fans already know Valkyrie will play some part in the future of the MCU, so the Russo brothers must have plans for Thompson’s feisty scrapper. Whatever happened to Valkyrie, the mystery will hopefully be cleared up in next year's Avengers 4.
