Some new concept design artwork for Avengers: Infinity War has been released online, and it reveals a very different look for Josh Brolin's Thanos.

Artist Jerad Marantz, who's worked on several Marvel Studios projects, showed off a scrapped design for the Mad Titan that has him wearing form-fitting material instead of his regal battle armor we saw in the film. Its aesthetic is similar to the suit Black Panther wears, and it even has what seems to be a hoodie at the back, depicting a more casual Thanos.

"Early #thanos design for #avengersinfinitywar," Marantz posted to Instagram. "We did a lot of options for #themadtitan out of his armor.” However, from the waist down, he can be seen rocking armored boots and non-descript pants, which does match what the Russo brothers ended up going with.

What's intriguing is there's a Tarzan-esque belt in these images, which does evoke what the Chitauri was seen sporting when they invaded Earth in 2012's The Avengers. It also vaguely resembles the white robe-based costume that Thanos wore during the Marvel crossover Annihilation in the mid-2000s.

Nonetheless, Thanos, even without his helmet here, still comes off very intimidating, which is ultimately the desired effect, and this will certainly leave fans wondering what his new look will be in Avengers: Endgame.
