The recently released Avengers: Infinity War artbook includes unused concept art for a number of different characters, including Spider-Man, Thor and Captain America. Most interesting are the pages of potential costumes for Spider-Man, which show off the character wearing a black suit.
Posted to Twitter by @akaspidey, the pages show off multiple different looks for Spidey, including a red and black costume -- similar to the one he'll wear in Spider-Man: Far From Home -- and a simplified Iron Spider design. The lower right corner, however, shows Spider-Man wearing a black suit.
The first instinct upon seeing Spider-Man in a black variant of his costume is to think the Venom symbiote is involved. But the suit in this concept art still seems to incorporate the paneling of the Iron Man-inspired aspects of the Iron Spider costume. This suggests it wasn’t specifically designed to be the symbiote, but just a black version of the armor Tony Stark gave him as they went into space.
Actor Tom Holland said in April that Marvel Studios hadn't discussed the idea of bringing Peter Parker's symbiote suit to the big-screen. However, Spider-Man will don a different sort of black suit in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
