According to Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo, there might be more costs to the Infinity Gauntlet than anyone expected. As a tie-in for the VUDU Viewing Party for the home release of one of the newest entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Russo Brothers answered a series of questions from fans on Twitter. One of the most interesting questions inquired whether Thanos would be able to mend the destruction did to his arm and the Infinity Gauntlet following the final battle on Earth.RELATED: Russos Seemingly Tease Red Skull Return to the MCUOn Twitter, a fan asked whether or not the Mad Titan (played by Josh Brolin) could use the Time Stone to repair the damage from the battle. The directors responded, “Perhaps, but there is a cost to using the power of the Stones.” This suggests that Thanos won’t just be able to walk off that devastating injury Thor left on him at the climax of the movie, nor the damage to his arm after using the Gauntlet.

Joe Russo also mentioned the subject during the audio commentary for the blockbuster film. During the scene where Thor manages to bury his new ax Strombreaker into his shoulder, the co-director said, “See there, with his Gauntlet and the arm, the power that it takes to use all six Stones is signifigant and clearly damaged the Gauntlet and damaged Thanos permanently.”

At the climax of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos tanks an attack from Thor long enough to deliver the fateful snap. By using the powers of the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos was able to eliminate half of the living things in the universe, including a whole slew of our favorite heroes.
