There's perhaps no better way for Marvel Studios to trumpet the coming of the second trailer for Avengers: Infinity War than with a television spot in which Thanos intones, "Avengers ... the end is near." And along with that new line of dialogue comes glimpses of new footage.
The 30-second ad aired today during CBS's March Madness coverage, coinciding with the online announcement by Marvel and directors Joe and Anthony Russo of trailer's debut.

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.
As you might expect, given the length of the promo, the new footage is of the blink-and-you'll-miss-it variety: Iron Man soars through the air about seven seconds in, and later an enormous ship crashes onto what we can presume is Thanos' home world of Titan. That will have to tide fans over the world premiere of the second full-length trailer sometime Friday.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston, and Josh Brolin. The film arrives April 27.
