A newly revealed piece of concept art shows a completely different — and more comics-accurate — version of Spider-Man’s Iron Spider suit that almost appeared in Avengers: Infinity War.

The costume design was posted by Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding on Instagram. "Here is another version of Iron Spider more directly based on the comics," he wrote. "Always loved that look from the source material, and the version in the Spider-man video game looks terrific!"

This isn’t the first time Meinerding has peeled back the curtain on Marvel’s concept designs. He recently shared other images of a crimson Iron Spider suit that got scrapped, along with art from Avengers: Endgame and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Since making his debut in Captain America: Civil War, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spidey has donned several different versions of the superhero’s iconic costume. His most recent suit was black and red, with a white spider logo. Originally, these were the colors worn by Peter Parker in the comics, and it wasn’t until years later that artists started using shades of blue in the getup.

The MCU’s Parker was gifted his Iron Spider suit by Tony Stark at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. It includes a slew of features, with the most notorious being "Instant Kill."

Marvel and Sony Pictures, which partially owns the rights to Spider-Man, had a brief falling out last year — which led to Spidey being momentarily banished from the MCU. However, the two companies eventually came to terms on an agreement that will allow the web-slinger to appear in a third Marvel film, following the success of Far From Home and Homecoming.

Reports have also emerged saying Spidey will have a cameo in the upcoming Venom sequel, though this has yet to be confirmed by Sony or Marvel.
