Newly released concept art gives Hulk fans a brief taste of what could have been in Avengers: Infinity War.

Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding shared the concept art on Instagram, with Hulk busting out of the Hulkbuster armor worn by his human counterpart Bruce Banner.

Hulk first appears at the beginning of the film, fighting Thanos after the Mad Titan and his followers attack the Asgardians' refugee ship following Thor: Ragnarok. However, the Green Goliath ultimately loses and is sent to Earth by Heimdall before Thanos kills him. Banner tries for the rest of the film to bring his other half back out again but to no avail, so the scientist instead utilizes the Hulkbuster armor during the final battle against Thanos' army in Wakanda.

During the five-year gap following Thanos' death in Avengers: Endgame, Banner figures out a way to fully control his Hulk form while retaining his humanity and intellect. As a result, he is now in complete control of his once volatile monster alter ego and makes the best of his dual identities.

It's currently unclear what the future holds for Hulk following Endgame, though it wouldn't be all that surprising to see the character show up in Disney+'s upcoming She-Hulk series.
