It hasn't gone unnoticed that Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye is absent from marketing of Avengers: Infinity War. While there's plenty of footage of the original Avengers, the archer has been nowhere to be seen, to the point where some fans have wonder whether he's even in the film.

However, at a set visit attended by Screen Rant and other outlets, directors Joe and Anthony Russo assured that the Avenging Archer will be seen, and that the events of Captain America: Civil War put him in an interesting spot when Infinity War opens.

In fact, Joe Russo likened it to the direction that Captain America and Falcon have taken in the two years between films. "Characters on Cap's team made certain decisions," he said, "and others made other decisions that led to different paths in them dealing with oversight in this movie in a different way. So Hawkeye's on his own journey in this movie."

"Yeah," Anthony Russo added, "he has a unique reaction to the Civil War situation that puts him in a special spot in this film."

Hawkeye only joined Cap's team in Civil War to repay a life debt he owed to Wanda Maximoff after her brother, Pietro, saved him in Age of Ultron. Although he was retired, that didn't stop him from fighting his friends to prove Bucky Barnes' innocence, an act that landed him in prison before Cap busted him and the other captured team members out.
