Thanos Is Coming to Fortnite in Infinity War Crossover

The villain of the moment is coming to the game of the moment. That's right, Avengers: Infinity War's Thanos is heading to Fortnite to restore the balance of the expansive map.

In a simple tweet, Epic Games revealed there will be a "limited time mashup" between the sandbox survival game Fortnite and Marvel Studios blockbuster beginning Tuesday, May 8. According to Entertainment Weekly, "Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup" mode will allow one lucky player to find, and wield, the all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet to become the Mad Titan himself.

The game mode will contain the usual antics: 100 players descend from the battle bus onto a destination of their choice until only one remains. The difference is that an Infinity Gauntlet will be placed in a random location for somebody to equip, giving them the power of Thanos. There's no explicit information as to the abilities the player will possess.

It was Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo who initiated this innovative crossover. According to EW, the brothers are big fans of the free game, as it appears are most gamers, and they called up Donald Mustard, worldwide creative director of Epic Games.

“Over the past few months, while we were editing Infinity War, we’d take breaks to hop on and get in a few games,” Joe Russo explained. “And then we started thinking, how cool would it be to have some kind of Avengers–Fortnite mashup? So we stalked Donald.”
