According to Variety, "Game of Thrones" star and Golden Globe-winner Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) is "in early talks" to join the cast of Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Infinity War" for a "key role." The role has yet to be specified.

Production has recently wrapped on "Games of Thrones" Season 7, allowing Dinklage to shoot "Avengers: Infinity War" -- should he get the part -- before the next season starts shooting this summer. If Dinklage is indeed in "Avengers: Infinity War," it is reported that he would also appear in the follow-up film, releasing one year later.

Dinklage is one of few actors set to appear in "Infinity War" that haven't already made their big-screen debut. Said to include almost all of the Marvel heroes we've seen on the big-screen thus far -- from Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe, of course -- the film is likely to feature the first major showdown with Josh Brolin's Thanos, who made his debut in the universe way back in the first "Avengers'" post-credit scene.
