A hilarious new fan theory has surfaced, providing an explanation for why Drax thinks he’s invisible in Avengers: Infinity War when he's standing very still, and it all comes back around to Baby Groot.

On Reddit, a fan posited that the joke from Infinity War was a longstanding bit seeded by the first Guardians of the Galaxy. During the credits for that film, Baby Groot is seen dancing to music next to Drax, but every time Drax looks up, Groot stops moving and seemingly tricks Drax into looking past him.

The Reddit user, as well as other commenters, suggests this is because Drax’s vision is based on movement, a la the Tyrannosaurus Rex from the first Jurassic Park. On top of this being a pretty funny gag in its own right, it makes the joke from Avengers: Infinity War even better. During a heavy moment between Star-Lord and Gamora (wherein the two finally kiss for the first time), they turn to see Drax munching on some snack mix. He tries to explain how he’s invisible, while also still trying to eat.

It explains the gag and adds another level to it by proving that Groot was right. Drax went unnoticed for so long before either of them noticed he was there.
