Don Cheadle appeared as a guest on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! recently, which proved to be the perfect opportunity for the host to make the actor relive the moment last year when Mark Ruffalo accidentally spoiled the ending of Avengers: Infinity War during an interview.

The House of Lies actor rewatched the interview he and co-star Mark Ruffalo gave during the press junket for Avengers: Infinity War. In the infamous clip, Ruffalo accidentally revealed that the movie ends with most of the cast dead. When Cheadle responded in shock, Ruffalo tried to walk it back a bit.

For months, everyone thought it was a joke. And then Avengers: Infinity War came and killed half of all life in the Marvel Universe with the snap of Thanos’s fingers.

When Kimmel asked if Cheadle knew Ruffalo was going to do that, he put up an emphatic denial. “Of course I didn’t know he was going to do that,” said Cheadle. “I tried to stop him, you saw it, I was like ‘I wouldn’t say a lot.’”

Cheadle is just happy it stopped there. He continued, “Well, if you listen very closely, he actually started to say the absolute truth, and then had to try and say 'everybody.' He actually almost said 'half.' He almost messed the whole thing up.”

It’s unlikely we’ll see Ruffalo (or the equally spoiler-y Tom Holland) on the press circuit for the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers 4, which is slated to come out May 2019.
