Few in the Marvel Cinematic Universe love science as much as Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) -- the duo's collaboration in the Avengers films even earned them the nickname Science Bros. Soon, though, a new member will join the ranks of this sacred brotherhood. Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will be joining up with the Science Bros. in Avengers: Infinity War, and Downey Jr. couldn't be happier.
"I love how Cumberbatch just comes in and kind of draws flaming circles anywhere and can basically step into your movie," Downey Jr. told Entertainment Weekly. "That’s fun. And we wanted to keep a little bit of the Science Bros. thing alive, even though Ruffalo has been on such an amazing Banner/Hulk journey himself. I really, really, really enjoyed getting to know and work with and play around with Benedict as Strange. Benedict Wong also, by the way, is fantastic."
Doctor Strange and Bruce Banner were last seen at the beginning of Thor: Ragnarok, while Iron Man most recently appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming. All three characters will appear in Infinity War, which is also set to introduce Iron Man's new Bleeding Edge armor.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War releases April 27 and stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Paul Bettany as the Vision and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch.
