With every new Avengers film comes a whole new batch of superhero costumes. Thanks to the Avengers: Infinity War trailers and promo material, we've seen Captain America's Nomad-inspired look, we've cheered when Peter Parker showed up in his Iron Spider armor, and we were taken aback by Black Widow's new blonde look, complete with a new green-hued outfit.

And that was just the beginning. Thanks to the release of an official new image from the movie, we have gotten our best look yet at Bucky's new Winter Soldier costume.

The still, seen above, itself showcases Captain America and his fellow Avengers standing at the front lines of Wakanda, ready to take on Thanos' Outrider army. While the picture itself doesn't reveal anything new from a story perspective, it does show us that James "Bucky" Barnes' new costume is actually a subtle callback to the one he wore in Captain America: The First Avenger.

While Bucky's news costume is unmistakably a clear evolution of the tactigal gear he wore when he was a Hydra enforcer in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the leather look has been scaled back in favor of a softer, looser fabric. What's more, the color scheme of black on black that Bucky sported in both Winter Soldier and Civil War has now been replaced by a dark navy blue. Both of these traits seem to be a nod to Bucky's first Winter Soldier costume, which he wore alongside Captain America and the rest of the Howling Commandos back in World War II.

In the first Captain America film, Bucky joined the Commandos' fight against Hydra wearing a navy blue overcoat to stave off the cold of a harsh European winter. The look has been tied to Bucky in the comics, from his earliest appearances to his return in modern days as the Winter Soldier. It was a design that carried over in the next two Captain America films, and we can see that it's once again present in Infinity War. Additionally, Bucky's new outfit also features a lightly popped collar, which once again seems to be a nod to his first movie costume.

Now, getting ready to fight in Wakanda, Bucky is once again sporting a navy blue coat. This is likely intended to be a sign that Barnes is free of the shackles that once made him answer to Hydra. After spending some time in Wakanda, Bucky has healed and found himself once again. He is reborn, repurposed and once again stands beside Captain America to fight off an oppressive army.
