As the most powerful hero on the Squadron Supreme, Hyperion has long been lauded as one of the most powerful powerhouses of the Marvel universe. Over time, Captain Marvel has grown in strength and ability to the point where she is being given many of the same considerations.
That being said, comic book fans have yet to see how a head-to-head battle would go for the two characters. Here are the five reasons why Hyperion is more powerful than Captain Marvel and five why he never will be.
For clarity, this is the Marcus Milton version of Hyperion and the Carol Danvers version of Captain Marvel.
10 Hyperion: Marvel's Superman
When Hyperion was first created in the Avengers comic books, he was part of an alternate reality team that looked quite a bit like DC's Justice League.
There were characters on this team, the Squadron Sinister (and later the Squadron Supreme) that looked an awful lot like Batman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash. Hyperion was the team's version of Superman and, in terms of power level, lived up to that comparison.
9 Captain Marvel: Skilled Fighter
Carol Danvers was a member of the Air Force. While there she trained hard to become a skilled combatant. Her skills have carried over into her superhero career, and now she is one of the most skilled fighters on the Avengers.
Hyperion is not as skilled in this way. Sure, he may be more powerful, but Captian Marvel's fighting skills allow her to contend with many enemies more powerful than her.
8 Hyperion: Decapitated Namor With Heat Vision
If Hyperion is Marvel's Superman than Namor is Marvel's Aquaman. As the ruler of Marvel's Atlantis, Namor has long been one of the most powerful characters since his inception in the early 20th century.
When these two characters finally came face-to-face Hyperion made quick work of the Atlantian king. Using laser vision Hyperion decapitated Namor proving his superiority
7 Captain Marvel: Absorbs Energy
One of Captian Marvel's lesser-known abilities would be key in helping her handly defeat Hyperion. Carol's power to absorb energy would render many of Hyperion's powers useless.
Any energy he shot at her would simply make her stronger. Also while Hyperion remains at the same strength level at all times, Captain Marvel can get stronger and stronger with the more energy she absorbs.
6 Hyperion: Superspeed
Captain Marvel is pretty fast. But she doesn't come close to Hyperion's speed. His speed will give him a massive advantage over the Avengers leader.
It's hard to imagine that Captain Marvel would even be able to lay a hit on Hyperion. he would quickly be able to close the gap and overpower his opponent with his incredible strength.
5 Captain Marvel: Photonic Blasts
Hyperion may be stronger and faster but nothing compares to Captian Marvel's Photonic blasts. The full extent of her photonic power is one of the most devastating attacks in all of the marvel universe.
As mentioned before Captain Marvel has the ability to absorbs massive amounts of energy. She can then redirect this energy into her photon blasts. The upper limit of this power is unknown, but it would no doubt push Hyperion to his limits.
4 Hyperion: Turned Hulk Into Banner With One Punch
Bruce Banner, also known as Hulk, has long been the most physically powerful force in the entire Marvel universe. The fact that Hyperion was able to turn Hulk back into Banner with one punch, goes to show that maybe Hulk isn't the most powerful force. Maybe its Hyperion.
Carol Danvers has had her fights with the Hulk before, but never has she been able to accomplish such a feat. Proving Hyperion is just on another level.
3 Captain Marvel: Lifted An Asteroid
Its been well established that Hyperion is stronger than Captain Marvel. Kind of. The nature of Captain Marvel remains ambiguous. At times, she appears to be one the biggest powerhouses of the Marvel universe and on other occasions she is just another hero.
At her most powerful, Carol may be able to giver Hyperion a run for his money. On one occasion, she lifted an entire asteroid with ease and hurled it at her opponents.
2 Hyperion: Held Two Planets Apart
At one time in Marvel history the worlds of different marvel realities began colliding into one another. The world that Hyperion and his Squadron Supreme came from crashed into another Earth destroying both.
For a brief few moments, Hyperion was able to use his strength to hold the planets apart. All Danvers can lift is an asteroid.
1 Captain Marvel: Can Amplify Her Power Levels
Hyperion may be stronger and faster but there is no upper limit to Captain Marvels power. Depending on who is writing her, Danvers can be one of the most OP superheroes in Marvel.
It's likely that Hyperion would have the upper hand at first, but Carol would not only be able to match his power she would be able to exceed it. That is why she is more powerful than Hyperion.
