A broken, multiversal variant of Thor who is unworthy of wielding Mjolnir trains to become the next Iron Fist in Marvel's Avengers Forever #8.

As part of its July 2022 solicitations, Marvel Comics has dished on the eighth issue of Avengers Forever, writer Jason Aaron and artist Aaron Kuder's ongoing series focusing on the Avengers of the multiverse. In addition to featuring a main cover by Kuder, Avengers Forever #8 will ship with a Predator-inspired variant cover by Juan José Ryp.

Avengers Forever #8 centers on "the most broken Thor in the Multiverse." This variant of the God of Thunder "watched Asgard burn, watched Midgard be defiled and was helpless to stop it, as he's a Thor who cannot lift his own hammer." At the end of his rope, a desperate Thor "will turn to another of the Earth's great powers, becoming a pupil of the Thunderer of mystical K'un-Lun, the guardian of the immortal Iron Fist."

Of course, Marvel's original and most well-known Iron Fist is Danny Rand. However, the Iron Fist mantle was recently taken up by Lin Lie, formerly known as Sword Master of the Agents of Atlas. A number of other wielders of the Iron Fist exist throughout Marvel's main Earth-616 continuity, and Danny Rand himself has plenty of multiversal variants.

Speaking of the multiverse, that's exactly where Aaron and Kuder's Avengers Forever has dragged Earth-616's own Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider. The series has already introduced a number of variants of established Marvel characters, such as Earth-818's Tony Stark -- who is Ant-Man in his world -- and his team, consisting of new versions of the Thing, Moon Knight, Vision and Wonder Man.

Written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Aaron Kuder, Avengers Forever #8 goes on sale July 6 from Marvel Comics.
