Avengers Extra Scene Rolls Out This Weekend With U.S. Premiere

The extra scene shot three weeks ago following the world premiere of Marvel’s The Avengers — y’know, the one Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige downplayed if not flat-out denied — will roll out this weekend with the film’s U.S. release as a second post-credits sequence.

“I will tell you this: It was not a scene. It was not a scene,” Feige insisted at the movie’s European premiere. “There’s little things. It’s been blown out of proportion. Which is fun, I like that things are blown out of proportion. Sometimes they’re true sometimes they’re not.”

It probably was blown out of proportion, as it’s an Earth-shaking reveal, or a lead-in to Iron Man 3. Whether it actually constitutes a “scene” is probably in the eye of the beholder. If you’re dying to know more, visit the Superhero Hype forums or see a screencap at Unleash the Fanboy. Just don’t spoil it for anyone who doesn’t want to know.

Opening Friday, The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as the Incredible Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Clark Gregg as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson, Cobie Smulders as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill and Stellan Skarsgård as Dr. Selvig.
