Avengers: Endgame Video Shows How VFX Brought the Final Battle to Life

Marvel fans who wonder just how the filmmakers pulled off the climactic final battle in Avengers: Endgame can now get a behind-the-scenes look at how it was made.

Visual effects company Weta Digital uploaded a video showing off its work on the fourth film in the Avengers franchise, with plenty of green screens making way for gorgeous final shots.

Some of the characters are filmed with live actors, some are animated in later and some are even a bit of both.

It's impressive to see that the filmmakers didn't simply copy and paste backgrounds in, but, as you can see in the video, added pieces in bit-by-bit. The video also saves the best for last, as the Infinity Gauntlet had to be made right down to the wires.

Since 1993, Weta Digital has worked on numerous blockbuster films, such as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, as well as epic television shows like Game of Thrones. In fact, the company's YouTube channel is filled with VFX breakdowns for a variety of films, including other installments in the Avengers franchise.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, with Gwyneth Paltrow Pepper Potts, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Josh Brolin as Thanos. The film is now available on Digital HD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD.
