Though the mantle has been picked up by both Andrew Garfield and, more recently, Tom Holland, many fans still fondly remember Tobey Maguire's tenure as Spider-Man in the original Sam Rami Spider-Man films from 2002-2007. That being said, it's hardly surprising that there's a fan edit to the climax of Avengers: Endgame that finally brings Maguire's version of Peter Parker into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an unexpected way.
The video begins during the final battle between the Avengers, their allies and Thanos' forces, as Captain America calls in Captain Marvel while Ant-Man activates the quantum tunnel.
As Captain Marvel lands, a portal opens to reveal Maguire's Peter Parker in place of Holland's holding the Avengers' version of the Infinity Gauntlet, which he claims he "had to beat an old lady with a stick" to get. He then kindly hands it over to Captain Marvel.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, with Gwyneth Paltrow Pepper Potts, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Josh Brolin as Thanos. The film is now available on Digital HD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD.
