Just one day after tickets for Avengers: Endgame became available for purchase, fans who were unable to claim seats at their local theaters before they sold out are now presented with a second chance -- if they're willing to shell out the big bucks for it.
The announcement that tickets were on sale came on Tuesday morning, igniting a frenzy of online purchases that broke records and led to lengthy wait times and crashed vendor sites. Third-party sellers swiftly took advantage of the high demand, beginning to auction off their tickets for hundreds of dollars just hours after they had been purchased.
Now, listings on eBay show that Endgame tickets in some major U.S. cities are already being offered for as high as $9,000 (or $15,000 in one case if you chose the "Buy It Now" option). Sold in quantities of two or more, some aren't even for showings on opening night. Whether they'll find any buyers is a different question, but it seems clear fans are attaching enormous importance to being present at the conclusion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 3.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau and Bradley Cooper, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Josh Brolin. The film arrives April 26.
