At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, the last shot of Thanos showed the Mad Titan sitting outside of a desolate cabin somewhere in space watching the sunset. In between that moment and Avengers: Endgame, the villain could've gotten up to anything in the universe.
But in a new interview, directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that he's been taking it easy since the day he harnessed the power of the Infinity Stones, wiped out half of all live in the universe and defeated a splintered Avengers team.
"He's retired," said Joe in a new interview with Empire Magazine. "He’s succeeded in the thing he has set out to do. He’s done. He did it."
As the Endgame trailer shows, Thanos literally hung his armor up on a scarecrow, making his retirement all the more clear. Since he put away the armor and helmet he wore when decimating planets and fighting the Hulk, Thanos believes that his fighting and conquering days are behind him since he won his ultimate victory.
Of course, that's not likely going to last since the Avengers will regroup and launch a counteroffensive at some point during Endgame's reported three-hour running time.
Avengers: Endgame will arrive on April 26, 2019. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Chadwick Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie.
