Avengers: Endgame - Rocket Raccoon Gets a Comics-Accurate Costume

The marketing team behind Avengers: Endgame is doing a great job at whetting our appetite without actually giving anything away. It started with a teaser trailer that clocked in at over two minutes, and yet revealed next to nothing about Marvel Studios anticipated sequel. Next, as millions of people sat down to watch Super Bowl LIII, fans were treated to a 30-second TV spot for the film featuring brand new footage.

But even though the spot's footage is all new, it still manages to be extremely cryptic. The entire half-minute commercial was filled with brief glimpses that have us asking a whole lot of questions. But one thing that the Super Bowl spot did reveal about Avengers: Endgame is that is appears Rocket Raccoon will be getting a new, comic book-accurate costume.

The Endgame television spot shows us a little bit of what the world looks like following Thanos' universe-decimating snap. Amid shots of various survivor camps and support groups, we see what few Avengers are left gear up for their final fight against the Mad Titan. Tony Stark and Nebula are working together to travel back to Earth, Steve Rogers' has his shield back, Thor is visiting green pastures, and Rocket Raccoon is seen entering what appears to be a cabin by the water. What's more, the last Guardian of the Galaxy left standing appears to be wearing a costume lifted straight from the comic books.

Rocket, who was last seen in Avengers: Infinity War wearing his Nova Corps-blue outfit, is now wearing a new outfit, one that now has sleeves and buttons on its side, much like a double-breasted suit. With its red highlights, it appears to echo the costume Rocket wore in writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's Guardians of the Galaxy. The run, which launched in 2008, inspired much of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of the cosmic team, so whether it's an important plot point, a flashback to his days pre-GotG, or simply a fun Easter egg, at the very least it's a nice nod to the fan-favorite DnA era.
