The Russo brothers love Wolverine, so it should come as no surprise that they would have had the Clawed Canuck survive Thanos' snap. In fact, had the X-Men been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Avengers: Infinity War, Joe Russo would have killed every one of the X-Men except Logan in the Snap.
"I'd love to see a fiercely motivated Wolverine going up against Thanos," Joe told IGN. Turning the rest of the X-Men to dust would be tragic for X-fans but to that, Joe replied, "It's not our job to give people what they want, it's to give them what they need." According to the Infinity War and Endgame co-director, what the audience "needs" is watching an emotionally wrecked Wolverine go full-0n berserker rage on the Mad Titan.
The Russos also revealed which other characters (and real people) would have been victims to Thanos' snap, including members of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Scooby-Doo gang, the Friends characters, the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, the characters from Arrested Development and the Community characters.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, with Gwyneth Paltrow Pepper Potts, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Josh Brolin as Thanos. The film is currently available on Digital HD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD.
