With Avengers: Endgame sitting as one of the most eagerly anticipated films of all time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is already breaking advance sales records.
Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis has revealed that 4,000 screenings have sold out ahead of the film's theatrical release this weekend, adding he has never seen as many screenings added following advance tickets going on sale.
THIS JUST IN: I have never seen Fandango report 4,000 sold out showtimes for a movie before, so that’s wild. But for some behind-the-scenes scoop, I have also never seen this many additional showtimes added for a movie since tix went on sale #AvengersEndgame https://t.co/XxeJ51lQKG— Erik Davis (@ErikDavis) April 23, 2019
The upcoming film has already earned $120-140 million domestically from presale tickets online, and is on track to earn $300 million at the domestic box office by the end of its opening weekend.
To keep up with the high demand, several theater chains have announced plans to keep screenings running continuously for 72 hours over the course of this weekend, so expect the number of sold-out screenings to dramatically increase over the next several days.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, with Gwyneth Paltrow Pepper Potts, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Josh Brolin as Thanos. The film opens Friday worldwide.
