With Avengers: Endgame set to hit theaters worldwide on Friday, the review embargo has finally lifted. Unsurprisingly, given the overwhelmingly positive early reactions following yesterday's world premiere, Avengers: Endgame's early score on Rotten Tomatoes score is a heroic one.
Rotten Tomatoes revealed the early Tomatometer score for Avengers: Endgame in a post on Twitter. "The first reviews have arrived for #AvengersEndgame -- currently it's #Fresh at 98% on the #Tomatometer, with 51 reviews," the post read. At the time of writing, an additional five reviews have made it onto the review aggregator since Rotten Tomatoes' tweet was published. However, the film is still holding strong with a 98% score on 56 reviews (55 Fresh, 1 Rotten), with an average rating of 8.4/10. A critics consensus has yet to be posted.
With many reviews still to come, it remains to be seen whether Avengers: Endgame will topple 2018's Black Panther as the best reviewed film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Panther ended its run with a score of 97% on 464 reviews.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, with Gwyneth Paltrow Pepper Potts, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Josh Brolin as Thanos. The film opens Friday worldwide.
