There’s a lot of names listed on the Avengers: Endgame poster that was released today, but one name was notably missing... until it wasn't.Twitter user @moviedrone pointed out that Danai Gurira, who plays Dora Milaje general Okoye, wasn't included in the list of names running along the top of the poster. Fortunately, he was able to fix the omission, though Marvel has since released an updated version of the poster that includes Gurira's name.

It’s not unusual for names to be left off movie posters, but the absence of Gurira’s name stuck out, given that Okoye is actually featured on the poster. Gurira was initially the only actor not credited on the poster, with even voice actors Bradley Cooper and Josh Brolin being listed.

Fans were initially concerned that the omission meant that Gurira might not appear in the film, or that her role had been diminished, as Okoye has been absent from other marketing as well, with no new footage of the character appearing in any trailer released so far.

While fans eagerly awaiting the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War were within their right to raise concern, as Okoye played a pivotal role in both Infinity War and Black Panther, it's worth remembering that who is credited and not credited on a movie poster is a marketing tactic more than anything.

For example, Gurira is featured and credited on the theatrical poster for Infinity War, but that poster does not credit Pom Klementieff, Benedict Wong, Bradley Cooper or Karen Gillan, whose characters all feature prominently on the poster.

Marvel released an updated version of the Endgame poster several hours later:

Okoye was a major player in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, where she was last seen witnessing T’Challa turn to dust following the snap. It’s not yet been revealed what role the Wakandan survivors may play in Avengers: Endgame, but following the success of Black Panther, fans have definitely taken note of their absence.
