The end of Ant-Man and The Wasp saw Scott Lang/Ant-Man getting trapped in the Quantum Realm after his compatriots were turned to dust as a result of the Decimation. A number of fan theories posited going into the Quantum Realm actually saved Lang, as he would not be subject to Thanos' Snap. However, Avengers: Endgame writer Christopher Markus has now debunked that theory.
Markus addressed Ant-Man's survival during a panel featuring co-writer Stephen McFeely at Comic-Con International in San Diego 2019. "I think [Ant-Man] was coin-flip lucky, because the Stones do not differentiate between realms," he said.
Markus' statement makes clear Ant-Man was subject to the same chance as every other one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes and that the Quantum Realm didn't do anything to increase his odds of survival, officially debunking theories Lang's status at the end of his second film saved him.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, with Gwyneth Paltrow Pepper Potts, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Josh Brolin as Thanos.
