The long-awaited trailer for Marvel's Avengers: Endgame dropped on December 7, 2018, much to our excitement and delight. The trailer showed us Tony Stark aboard the Benatar recording a goodbye message to Pepper Potts. We saw farmer Thanos on some unknown planet. We saw Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Bruce Banner at the uncomfortable empty Avengers headquarters. We got confirmation that Shuri is among the missing. We saw Steve cry and Thor mope. We finally got our first official look at Jeremy Renner as Ronin, as well as Chris Evans back in his stealth suit from Captain America: Winter Soldier. Things were looking pretty desolate up until the very end when Scott Lang (assumed to have been among the decimated) appeared at the Avengers doorstep asking to be buzzed in, much to Steve and Natasha's bewilderment.

Though we find our heroes in a difficult spot there is still hope because Steve has a plan. We're definitely in for a lot more heartbreak in the style of Avengers: Infinity War, but this time around we are hoping for at least somewhat happy ending. And while the trailer did give us some answers, it also left us with some burning questions. The discussion about who will rescue Tony Stark even got NASA involved. But, what amazed us is the crazy amount of fan art that immediately flooded the Internet. Talented artists created incredible pieces of fan art in a matter of hours and days. And because we absolutely adore fan art we decided to share our 25 favorite pieces of Avengers: Endgame fan art, so far.

25 IT’S ALWAYS YOU

Gurkenpflaster Tony

Aside from a few seconds of comic relief, courtesy of Scott Lang, the Avengers: Endgame trailer was a real bummer. Our brave heroes, or what remains of them, are completely devastated by the Decimation.

Tony Stark is somewhere in space, all by his lonesome, without food and water, waiting for oxygen to run out as well. Before he drifts off, he decides to record a message for Pepper and it’s the sweetest, most heartbreaking words we’ve ever heard from him. Here’s Gurkenpflaster’s fan art of that opening scene.

24 UNBEARABLE LOSS

Kathick Siva Captain America

After spending some time with Tony in outer space, Avengers: Endgame trailer took us back to Earth. Our heroes back on Earth aren’t in much better shape than Tony Stark who’s stuck waiting for his demise. While they’re not running out of oxygen, they are beaten and burdened with grief and guilt.

The Decimation has taken a heavy toll on everyone, including Steve Rogers. In one brief shot, he’s seen crying and it’s such a sad moment. Featured above is Karthick Siva’s drawing of that crushing image.

23 UNITED WE STAND

Pablo Ruiz Cap Stark

After the events of Captain America: Civil War, the relationship between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers has been more than a bit strained. Though Tony was willing to ask for Cap’s help in Infinity War, despite their differences. Unfortunately, they were tossed in different directions and never got the chance to patch things up.

Hopefully, Avengers: Endgame will give these two heroes the opportunity to rebuild their friendship. If Pablo Ruiz’s fan art tells us anything, it’s that unity is key.

22 I GOT YOU!

Man Luo Pepper Tony

Tony Stark and Pepper Potts are MCU’s first pairing -- the first ship if you will. Over the years, they have been through a lot together and they’re still going strong. And it’s really difficult not to get attached to them. Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow have excellent chemistry together, and Tony and Pepper are just perfect for each other.

These two have also acquired quite the fanbase, which has produced tons of amazing fan art. Man Luo posted this piece on Instagram with the caption “Come Pepper! Save Tony”.

21 A HERO FALLS

spdrmnkyxxiii Stark Cap Death

The odds of Captain America making it out alive from whatever scenario Avengers: Endgame throws him in are slim to none. It’s no secret that Chris Evans’ contract with Marvel is about to expire and the actor has stated that he’s ready to move on to other projects. Many fans suspect that Cap will end up passing away as a true hero in the upcoming Avengers film.

If it really does come to that, saying goodbye to Captain America and Chris Evans won’t be easy for any fan of the MCU. Spdrmnkyxxiii is simply preparing us for the worse.

20 PART OF THE JOURNEY IS THE END

Daanesh Bhathena Avengers Endgame

The long-awaited trailer for Avengers 4, now officially titled Avengers: Endgame, opens with Tony Stark adrift in space. With oxygen supplies running out, Tony records a message for Pepper Potts. It appears that the invincible Iron Man has truly been brought down on his knees, seeing as Tony has given up hope completely.

He seems to have resigned himself to his fate, saying that “part of the journey is the end”. Daanesh Bhathena, however, refuses to believe Stark’s journey ends here because Pepper Potts is coming to his rescue.

19 ENTER RONIN

PaTT Ronin

The look on Natasha Romanoff’s face when the dark figure with the katana turns around and reveals himself to be none other than Clint Barton tells us that even she was surprised by Hawkeye’s transformation. The archer didn’t only change his costume and weapon of choice, he’s changed his identity  he’s a whole different person.

The reveal -- though we knew it was coming -- sent chills down our spine. Just by looking into Clint’s eyes you can tell he’s not the same person. Ronin's introductory scene can be seen on the above fan art piece by PaTT.

18 WHAT WERE YOU THE GOD OF AGAIN?

vampirepopsicle Thor

The God of Thunder appears only briefly in the Avengers: Endgame trailer. We see him sitting in what some are assuming is some kind of a cell. Thor sure doesn’t look good in the trailer and it’s easy to understand why.

He lost Asgard, Heimdall, his brother, his new friend Tree, and probably blames himself for not finishing off Thanos when he had the chance. Meaning, he blames himself for every last person who’s been decimated. Vampirepopsicle seems to think Thor needs to snap out of it, and so do we.

17 CAPTAIN'S TEARS

CAP CRYING Oh, Steve don’t do this to us, please. Seeing Steve Rogers cry almost reduced us to tears. If the tone of the trailer is any indication as to what we can expect from the movie, we’re in for a collective ugly cry at the theaters. Don’t forget to bring lots of tissues. Artist Melissa Thomas, who drew this adorable fanart of Steve in tears, said she felt personally victimized by the Endgame trailer and we can’t help but agree with her. So, raise your hand if you felt personally victimize

Oh, Steve don’t do this to us, please. Seeing Steve Rogers cry almost reduced us to tears. If the tone of the trailer is any indication as to what we can expect from the movie, we’re in for a collective ugly cry at the theaters. Don’t forget to bring lots of tissues.

Artist Melissa Thomas, who drew this heart-rending fan art of Steve in tears, said she felt personally victimized by the Endgame trailer and we can’t help but agree with her. So, raise your hand if you felt personally victimized as well.

16 DRIFTING OFF

Melissa Thomas Tony Stark

As soon as the trailer for Avengers: Endgame dropped all kinds of fan art pieces started popping up everywhere -- these artists work really fast. One of the most popular scenes to draw was Tony Stark drifting off in the middle of nowhere after having recorded the message for Pepper.

Among the many artists who recreated this particular moment is the avid Pepperony enthusiast, Melissa Thomas, whose fan art is featured above and it’s sort of a companion piece to her Steve Rogers.

15 YOU’RE GOING HOME NOW

ultraraw26 Captain Marvel Saves Tony

There are many theories about who will end up saving Tony Stark. There’s always the option that Nebula could return from wherever she had apparently gone. Pepper Potts might be suiting up herself to go find her beloved. The genius scientist that he is, Tony might as well figure out a way to save himself without anyone's help.

And, last but not least, Captain Marvel might come to Tony’s rescue. Yadvender Singh Rana, also known as ultraraw26, created an amazing fan art of Carol Danvers carrying Tony home.

14 PEPPERONY BABY

bosslogic Pepper Tony Kid

In the Avengers: Infinity War scene with Pepper and Tony at the park, the couple was discussing the possibility of having a child together. When Tony got excited thinking Pepper is pregnant she quickly corrected him, but many fans have been predicting that we will see them become parents.

And if that is true, if the fans have guessed correctly, that means we could see a Pepperony baby in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame. Here’s how Bosslogic imagined a pregnant Pepper Potts listening to Tony’s message.

13 REUNITED

Melissa Thomas Pepper Tony Reunion

Think we can all agree that as long as Tony and Pepper are reunited by the end of Avengers: Endgame (and for that we’d need them both to live of course) we don’t even care who rescues Tony. Just get it done. Despite how grim everything looks and how slim the odds are, we’re choosing unyielding and foolish optimism.

Melissa Thomas’ adorable fan art somehow fills us with the hope that, in the end, everything will be ok. For the kiss and more Pepperony cuteness visit Melissa’s Instagram.

12 A LOVING RESCUE

ultraraw26 Pepper Potts Rescue Tony

There’s a chance that Tony Stark’s message will reach Pepper Potts just in time for her to carry out a rescue mission. In the comics, Pepper Potts does put on an armor and become the superhero known as Rescue, so this would seem like the perfect moment to incorporate this into the MCU.

Plus, you know, there has been evidence that Gwyneth Paltrow is donning on an Iron Man armor. And here she is flying towards Tony as depicted by ultraraw26.

11 HOLD ON, TONY

Nikolay Mochkin Help is Coming

Captain Marvel was a no-show in the Avengers: Endgame trailer, but since Fury did request her help in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War it’s only a matter of when and where she’ll show up.

A lot of MCU fans seem to believe that Captain Marvel will be introduced as Tony Stark’s savior, which sounds like the logical thing to do. Artist Nikolay Mochkin created this amazing piece of fan art to show us how he imagines the encounter between these two heroes to go down.

10 ALL ALONE

bosslogic Rocket Raccoon

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Rocket, as well as a number of other characters, in the Avengers: Endgame trailer. We know that he survived the Decimation, but we still don’t know what happened to him afterward. And let’s not forget, his entire team got snapped out of existence, so the poor guy’s all alone.

The amazing artist Bosslogic also noticed Rocket’s absence from the trailer and decided to do something about it. This heartbreaking piece of fan art shows Rocket all alone in space, attempting to re-grow Groot.

9 THOR’S DEPRESSION HOODIE

Bree Thor

Thor is yet another hero who lost everyone. In Thor: Ragnarok, he lost his father and witnessed the destruction of Asgard. In Avengers: Infinity War, he watched helplessly as Thanos ended Heimdall and his brother Loki.

On top of that, he failed to stop Thanos. He had him. He should have stopped him, but because he stopped to gloat Thanos won. No wonder the poor guy’s donned on a depression hoodie, as dubbed by the artist behind this piece of fan art, Bree.

8 THERE’S STILL HOPE

Justin Chen Captain Marvel

Obviously, we’re not buying it that Tony Stark will pass away somewhere in space all by himself. We know someone will eventually save him. However, who that someone will be depends on whom you ask. Many seem to believe that Pepper Potts will be the one to rescue Stark, while others expect Captain Marvel to come to his aid.

Justin Chen says that after watching the Avengers: Endgame trailer he immediately thought of Carol Danvers finding Tony. This is his concept art for how that could look.

7 PEPPER POTTS TO THE RESCUE

spdrmnkyxxiii Pepper Potts

Ever since that photo of Gwyneth Paltrow in the Iron Man armor popped up on the internet, the fans have been predicting that Pepper will be the one to come to Tony’s rescue. Not only would this be really sweet, but it would also give Pepper something awesome to do. Unlike in Infinity War where she barely had any role to play.

Last but not least, we really need these two to have the sweetest reunion. Come on Marvel, don’t go breaking our hearts. Be like Spdrmnkyxxiii and send Pepper to the rescue.

6 ADRIFT

ultraraw26 Tony. Adriftjpg

There’s something unsettling about seeing Tony Stark resigned to his fate in the Avengers: Endgame trailer. We’re just not used to Tony Stark giving up. Tony Stark, plain and simple, doesn’t give up. Which is precisely why we’re not writing him off just yet.

After all, even if no one really does come to save him, he’s a freaking genius who built his first Iron Man suit while imprisoned by criminals in a cave. There’s always hope for Tony to save himself and he looks about ready to science his way out of this in ultraraw26's fan art.
