As Avengers: Endgame closes in on James Cameron's Avatar in pursuit of becoming the highest-grossing film ever, the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has passed $700 million at the domestic box office.

According to Box Office MojoEndgame has made over $723 million at the domestic box office. This puts it past Black Panther, which earned $700 million, and makes it the highest-grossing MCU movie domestically.

Endgame's haul this weekend, which earned the film the top spot at the box office over Detective Pikachu, brings its grand total up to over $2.485 billion. James Cameron's Avatar earned more than $2.787 billion in 2009 and has held the top spot at the box office since. Current projections indicate Endgame will indeed go on to take Avatar's spot.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, with Gwyneth Paltrow Pepper Potts, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Josh Brolin as Thanos. The film is in theaters now.
